Some of the smartest people I've known have had nothing more than an eighth-grade education, some, like some of the natives in the highlands of Papua New Guinea, are extremely educated (by their standards) in the ways of the forest, and have never entered a traditional school; the corollary, of course, is that I HAVE met some very learned people, PhD s, who knew everything about their chosen field, but had NO knowledge beyond that field. They have a piece of paper that says they have an education, but this, to me, is an expert, but not necessarily "educated".

Education, being educated, to me, is much more than just what can be learned in a school; after all, most people in school have forgotten almost everything they've been taught in less than a year. Some things will stick, others...not so much. Education can be attained from parents, people with whom we come into contact, interacting hands-on with a learned professional, working as an apprentice actually doing the job, and it can be anything which is learned simply for the joy of learning. That learning, that education, never ceases; a truly "educated" person continually looks at the world with a sense of wonder.

 التعليم ، أن أكون متعلماً ، بالنسبة لي ، هو أكثر بكثير من مجرد ما يمكن تعلمه في المدرسة ؛ بعد كل شيء ، نسى معظم الناس في المدرسة كل شيء تقريبًا تم تدريسه في أقل من عام. بعض الأشياء ستلتصق ، والبعض الآخر ... ليس كثيرًا. يمكن الحصول على التعليم من الوالدين ، والأشخاص الذين نتواصل معهم ، والتفاعل العملي مع محترف مكتسب ، والعمل كمتدرب يؤدي المهمة بالفعل ، ويمكن أن يكون أي شيء يتم تعلمه لمجرد متعة التعلم. هذا التعلم ، هذا التعليم ، لا يتوقف أبدًا ؛ الشخص "المتعلم" حقًا ينظر باستمرار إلى العالم بشعور من الدهشة.
